Athletics Update 12/4/2020
Good afternoon Mar Vista Scholar Athletes & Families,
As many of you may have heard, two days ago CIF issued a press release with regards to the status of education-based athletics. While this update is geared for Season 1 sports (Badminton, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football, Gymnastics, Traditional Competitive Cheer, Volleyball, & Water Polo), we wanted to share the status of high school sports with all of our Mar Vista family.
Below is a quick synopsis of the key points which came out from CIF followed by the links to the two CIF memos:
-No new guidance *expected* until 1/2021 with regards to Season 1 start dates
-No practice or games until guidance is released ( after January 1, 2021, at the earliest)
-No regional or state playoffs for "Season 1" Sports
-Boys volleyball moved to "Season 2"
-Season 1 League schedules will be adjusted once the League knows what CIF plans to do.

We realize how difficult this is for all involved, so as meetings take place at the league and CIF levels and new information is released, we will continue to update everyone. For now, we appreciate your continued patience and support.
Please feel free to contact me via email, gisela.villarreal@sweetwaterschools.org, if you have any further questions.
