No Teacher Left Behind Act
EDU650: Teaching Learning and Leading the 21st Century
How would you suggest we, as a nation, provide consistent learning opportunities for teachers and ensure the they ad not left behind in learning about new techniques and strategies?
Teachers must meet a certain criteria and be knowledgeable of what they are teaching. Teachers are required to take a test to become certified. As an educator in the parish where I teach we have continuing education that is available if we wish to do so but throughout the year we have mandatory workshops that we must attend (Professional Development Day). I feel that this is a wonderful thing because it gives you the opportunity to collaborate with other educators.
Should all teachers across the country use certain practices? if so, what would those be?
All teachers across the country should use certain practices. Every teacher should have a certain disposition about them. A teacher should have an open mind for learning new things, show flexibility, dedication, have a positive attitude and most of all have high expectations not for only their students but for themselves as well.
Should there be a consistent standard for all teachers to meet, just as students must pass high stakes tests?
There should be certain standards that teachers must meet. By doing this teachers are showing that they are effective to their students. If teachers are not being effective, they are not preparing their students as they should. Teachers must demonstrate learning skills along with life skills as discussed in the first chapter of our text. By doing so, this will prepare students for world experiences.
Share your thoughts on how well teachers are being prepared to master the ISTE Standards for teachers in their classroom
These standards have been put in place for teachers to align them with their teaching practices. These standards must be followed to ensure that students are being taught as the guidelines are instructed (ISTE,2015).
