Traditions
Mike the Tiger
Mike the Tiger is the official mascot of LSU. He is a live Bengal tiger. At every home football game, Mike is brought on the field next to the opposing team's entrance. He lives on campus in a habitat and it is tradition to take your picture with him when you graduate. There is also a costumed Mike the Tiger mascot that cheers on the crowd at sporting events.
Tailgating
Tailgating is one of the biggest traditions of LSU. Fans can be found all over campus as early as 3 days before the football game. Many news organizations have ranked LSU as the number one tailgating destination in the country. One of the reasons LSU tailgating is the best, is the Cajun cuisine. Fans also tailgate for baseball and basketball games.
Fight Songs
"Fight for LSU" is the official fight song. It is played when the football team enters the field. "Touchdown for LSU" is played at the beginning of the fourth quarter of a football game. "Hey, Fightin' Tigers" is played throughout the game and at the end of the halftime show. There are even more songs that band plays to get the crowd into the game.
