Message From Principal McDill
Wildcat Families:
The goal of our entire UCS team is for students and staff to enter the upcoming break healthy and able to take the time necessary to reconnect with family and friends; to relax and recharge after what has been an emotional several weeks.
Regarding the calendar: Next week Monday through Thursday will be full days of school. Friday, December 17 will be a half day, dismissal at 11:02 am.
Regarding exams: Our district has been working with administration and teachers to provide flexibility for semester one exams. The exam window will be Tuesday, December 14th through Friday, December 17th. Individual teachers will notify students of their exam date and any changes to the format of their exam based on the schedule change.
Specifically, teachers may give exams during the following windows:
Tuesday, Dec.14 and Thursday, Dec.16: 4th, 5th, and 6th Period Exams
Wednesday, Dec.15 and Friday, Dec.17: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Period Exams
It is essential that students are in attendance on the final half-day – Friday, December 17 - so that we have a strong start to our second semester. Students will attend their 1st, 2nd and 3rd hours on that day to complete their exams.
Taking the additional time to focus on the relationships in our lives is the right thing to do. Our goal remains to create an environment that allows our students and staff to enter the break healthy and spend much needed time connecting with their loved ones and reestablishing important family traditions.
Please contact me with questions. On behalf of the entire Wildcat staff, we wish you all the best for a safe, happy and peaceful season.

Changes to Quarantine Process
As Mr. Monroe’s September 30 letter indicated, there has been a series of adjustments in required quarantine guidelines. These adjustments from the Macomb County Health Department are for students who may have been identified as a close contact. The changes are the result of discussions between our district leadership and the health department and are based on concerns shared by our parents.
Our goal remains to keep our students in-person throughout the year. The new guidelines provide an avenue that families can take to return quarantined students to classrooms earlier if they meet certain conditions, such as a vaccination, a distance of more than three feet from the contact or testing daily over seven days through either a clinic or using an at-home kit. If you choose to purse the at-home or clinic tests, our school will provide you a form to record the results.
In the event your student is a close contact, we will notify you via phone call, email and a text message. (If you do not receive regular updates from our school, please call the office to verify we have accurate information for you).
For more information, you may visit our district’s website regarding the required quarantine process and our school’s layered mitigation strategies. If you have any questions regarding the process or the learning plan for your child if a quarantine is necessary, please speak to your teacher or call our office directly.
