Every Student Counts, Every Moment Matters!
A Message from Principal Webb
The students have been working hard and we are finishing up our fall testing window of FAST math and reading. These assessments help teachers understand what strengths and needs the students have so we can better support them.
On Thursday, our building had a practice fire drill conducted by the Iowa City Fire Department. The students and staff did an amazing job, exiting the building in a quick, safe and quiet manner. The Fire Department was very impressed! Way too go Longhorns!
The playground is coming together and almost ready for recess use! We ask that if you are using the playground equipment outside of school hours, that you respect the playground rules. We will add a link to our playground handbook when it is completed. Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Kelli Webb
Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports- PBIS
At Ice Cream Social, we prepared a PBIS brochure explaining our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Below are more details on our school team approach for below the line behaviors.
Longfellow Behavior Plan Purposes
To teach students the school's belief in being responsible, supportive and safe.
To apply appropriate school behavior and to hold students responsible for their actions.
Behavior Referral Form
Behavior Referral Forms are given to students when a severe behavior has occurred. These may include physical or verbal threats or confrontations, fighting, intimidation, harassment, vandalism, theft, defiance or other actions deemed inappropriate. These behaviors are considered very serious and appropriate action will be taken. The severity of the consequence may increase depending on the number of behavior slips received by the student.
Staff and students refer to these forms as major or minors. The forms include a student reflection and next steps plan. The behavior forms are another form for school to home communication.

*All cars should remain in carline and follow the loop around to exit.
