Halloween Costume Guidelines for Thursday
Berea-Midpark Middle School will allow students to dress up for Halloween this school year on October 31. We do want to set certain guidelines in place to maintain safety and learning on this day. The following are not permitted:
No masks or hoods that cover a student’s face or head.
No weapons or props that need to be carried.
No images or symbols that would be deemed offensive.
No costumes that would pose a hazard or restrict a student from sitting or moving through the hallway.
School dress code applies (appropriate length/not revealing)
Thanks for your cooperation as we try to make the day fun and exciting, while still focusing on our primary responsibility of teaching and learning.
Reflections Art Competition Seeking Entries
Reflections is a national arts competition for students of all ages. Enter an original piece in this year's contest and you could win a cash prize and the opportunity to have your work advance to the state or national level.
All student entries must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Each entry must be the original work of one student only.
- A student may create their entry inside or outside of school.
- A student may submit entries is more than one category.
- Each entry must have a completed and signed Student Entry Form.
- Student entries must include a title and artist statement that communicates their inspiration for the work and how it relates to this year’s theme LOOK WITHIN.
Entry forms available in the BMMS Library or Cafeteria. Turn in entries to the BMMS Library by November 7.

MEETING WILL HELP PARENTS UNDERSTAND STATE REPORT CARDS
- Improve data literacy by hosting educational events and developing and disseminating parent-friendly resources and materials.
- Amplify the parent voice on data through social media and other public forums.
- Drive a narrative among parents showcasing the benefits of data and the “good side” of data, dispelling myths around data being solely related to test scores.
- Engage parents as stakeholders in key policy conversations around report cards and school improvement, continuing PTAs role in implementation efforts of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) at the state and local levels.

This crusader is doing an excellent job showing respect and responsibility in his classes and the team is enjoying working with him!
Clips from the Classroom:
- ELA: “The supreme irony of life is that nobody gets out alive.” Classes will enjoy the fictional story of “The Landlady” by Roald Dahl and end with a special presentation of their spooky stories.
- Math: Lord Nelson was 5ft 6 inches. His statue is 17ft 4 inches. That’s Horatio of 3:1. Students will begin the study of ratios and proportions.
- Science: Look at those beautiful leaves! It’s time to study photosynthesis.
- World Studies: How far can you jump? How can far can you “throw”? Why is the world round? Students are “touring” Greece to study sports, architecture, philosophy and religion.
