Finding inspiration Reaching Excellence
Week one in the books!
Well, we made it through our first week and I may be a little bias, but I believe it has been one of the best first weeks of school I’ve ever had!
Each Friday I will be sending out a newsletter via SMORE. The district has purchased a corporate account and there may still be a few accounts left if you would like one for your organization or club. That being said they are having a little difficulty getting the corporate accounts up and running, so I am using the free version to try it out. My very first SMORE!!!

GT Pilot Program.
There are many exciting things already happening around campus! Our campus has been given the opportunity to pilot a GT program for our 6th grade students. As many of you know, at the elementary level when students are identified as GT that are part of a pull out program called PACE that provides them with enrichment activities. When they get to the secondary level the best we’ve been able to do is cluster them in PAP classes. Not any more…We currently have 37 GT students in our 6th grade class and we will be scheduling them between two advisory classes. They will then participate in a program called GoQuest which will guide them through project based enrichment opportunities that will ultimately be showcased in a spring symposium. This is an awesome opportunity to serve this population of students!
Tardies
Starting next week we will begin to count students tardy to class. Remember, this is only effective if everyone one is consistent in counting tardies.
Lunch in Classrooms
I know several of you are planning on inviting students to have lunch and/or assigning lunch detention and lunch tutorials in your classroom. Please make sure that you provide the students with a written pass when allowing them to come to your class for lunch. Also, as a general rule of thumb, always invite at least two or more students when allowing students to visit during lunch.
