iDECIDE
We are excited to announce that Walsh Middle School, alongside nearly 100 schools across Massachusetts has committed to launching an exciting new program called iDECIDE (Drug Education Curriculum: Intervention, Diversion, and Empowerment) was developed in collaboration between Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and the Institute for Health and Recovery. iDECIDE aims to provide students experimenting with substances and/or who got caught using substances at school the knowledge, skills, and motivation necessary to make healthier decisions.
On October 19 all students will be given an anonymous survey to help Framingham Public Schools learn how to best support the students. To learn more and/or opt your child out please click here.

Cell Phones, Electronic Devices, Hats and Hoods
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
These items are not allowed to be used during the school day. If parents/guardians provide their child with a cellphone it must be turned off and kept in their backpack or locker. If a student has their cell phone/electronic device out during the school day, staff members will confiscate the item, notify parents and return it to the student at the end of the day. If there are repeat offenses, items will be confiscated and parents/guardians will be contacted and asked to come to the school and meet and pick up the phone/device.
Contacting Students
When it is necessary to get an important message to your child during the school day, leave a message with the school secretary in the main office. Students are not to carry and keep cell phones on during the school day as they tend to be a disruption to themselves, their classmates, and teachers. The secretary will make sure your child receives your message. Children are not allowed to be called out of class to take phone calls from parents. In order to minimize class interruptions, please limit messages to topics such as family illness or a parent being absent from home after school.
Hats and Hoods - Student’s hats and hoods are to be removed in the school building. Exceptions may be made by the Principal for religious or medical reasons or designated school “Spirit Days.”
