What's Happening in the Classroom??
- Innovation-Block #3: In the innovation lab students will be participating in exploration centers to continue to learn about coding and programming. In Makerspace students will be working with Little Bits to complete a Design Thinking Challenge about how to reduce waste around the world.
- Language Arts- We will finish up our Weather and Climate unit where our guiding essential question is: How can we predict the unknown? Click here for the Unit 8 Parent Letter.
- Word Study- Students will be studying diphthongs. Students will be able to identify and read aloud examples of words with diphthongs.
- Math -Click here for the Unit 5 Parent Letter. This week in math, students will continue to learn to tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. We will be solving word problems involving addition and subtraction and representing the time intervals on a number line.Students will begin to explore the mass of different objects. Additionally students will begin to explore shapes and understand shapes and their attributes.
- Writing - Students will continue their research project where they are studying a type of storm or severe weather and gathering information on their topic that they are going to use to write their own fictional narrative. Students will also continue to practice all three types of writing throughout the unit: opinion, narrative and informational.
- Vocabulary- Students will be able to use reference materials to build vocabulary. They will show their understanding of the word by using it in a sentence during collaborative conversations and in writing. Students will also use context clues to figure out the meaning of unknown words.
- 7 Habits - Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood. Can your student sing our school 7 habits song: All the 7 habits? "Habit 5, Seek first, To understand, Then to be understood."
