The Mustang Minute

Read, Read, Read!
On a more serious note we also practiced our lockdown drill this week. The tragic circumstances in Florida have once again highlighted what a difficult and import task student safety is in our schools. As we checked our protocols and discussed lock down drills with students our focus is on making this as much of a routine as a fire drill. We want to be as prepared as possible while minimizing the stress and anxiety this type of activity causes students. To that end you will start to hear about us doing drills in a regular manner, similar to how we do fire drills. I will always email and call after a lockdown drill so that you can check in with your child when they come home.
I wish everyone the best of luck staying warm and dry this week!

Congratulations!
Our own Ryan Cain has been notified by the National Geographic Society that he is one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2018 Massachusetts National Geographic State Bee.
This is the second level of the National Geographic Bee competition, which is now in its 30th year. School Bees were held in schools with fourth- through eighth-grade students throughout the state to determine each school champion. School champions then took a qualifying test, which they submitted to the National Geographic Society. The National Geographic Society has invited up to 100 of the top-scoring students in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Department of Defense Dependents Schools and U.S. territories to compete in the State Bees.
Congratulations Ryan!
