World Civilization II

Fall 2015 Online

Welcome to World Civ II!

I'm sure you will find this course enlightening, even if you have yet to take World Civilization I. If you have already taken the first survey, I think you'll find that this course looks much more at Western civilization and how "the rise of the West" is a major theme throughout modern world history. So, there will be a good deal of emphasis on how Europe and North America developed and expanded after 1500, and how that expansion effected all other regions and civilizations of the globe. It's one of my favorite courses to teach, and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Don't forget to read the syllabus before the start of the first week and be sure that you know how the Discussion forums operate. Also, feel free to share something about yourself in the Introductions forum (and let me know if you have a favorite historical subject). If you have any questions, please feel free to post them in the Questions forum, or you can e-mail me. Enjoy!
