Letter from Steve Murray, CHS Principal - TO: 8th Grade Parents & Families
Dear 8th Grade Parents and Guardians:
I am Steve Murray, principal of Chelmsford High School. I hope everyone had a relaxing break. We are back and getting ready for the second half of the school year. It is hard to believe, but we are starting the process to welcome and schedule next year’s freshman class. Over the next five months, we will be meeting with 8th-grade students, your child’s middle school teachers, counselors, and administration to prepare your child and you for a smooth transition to Chelmsford High School. I look forward to meeting all of you.
The first event is a parent information night on Thursday, January 27, 6:45 pm – 8 pm. We welcome all of you to attend. On this night, we will:
- Introduce the Administrative Team at CHS
- Explain and describe the House System
- Talk about student involvement and after-school activities.
- Explain the scheduling process
- Explain the supports we have for freshmen
- Explain Dual Enrollment and Innovation Pathways. Explain how these programs will spark student interest, and how they can potentially save families thousands of dollars when their children attend college.
- Review graduation requirements
We will start the evening in the high school’s Performing Art Center (PAC). After explaining the scheduling process and timelines, parents/guardians will proceed to the gym. Curriculum Coordinators will be in the gym ready to answer questions that you might have regarding the curriculum.
You may also take a self-guided tour of the building. Our National Honor Society students will be available to assist with tours/directions and answer your questions.
This is a great night to see the school, ask questions about the curriculum and find out more about life at CHS. We look forward to seeing you on January 27at 6 pm in the Performing Art Center (PAC).
PARKER LOST & FOUND
The Lost and Found Racks are overflowing with coats, hats, gloves, sweatshirts, water bottles and lots more. Please have your student check for any lost or missing items. The racks are located in the lobby right next to the Gym. Unclaimed items will be donated in February. See below:
From Parker Student Ambassadors and Advisors
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to the Parker Middle School students, staff and all of the families for the amazing outpouring of generosity to benefit the people of Kentucky affected by the tornado. We are still counting all the donations and will be sharing the grand total very soon.
Thank you again for making a difference.
15th Annual Parker Middle School "Souper" Bowl
Every year at this time, the Parker Community collects non-perishable food items for the annual Souper Bowl food drive. All items are given to Chelmsford Community Exchange Inc., which serves local families in need. All donations can be brought to Parker Middle School beginning on Tuesday, February 1st through Friday, February 11th. Please see the attached flyer for important details.
After School Clubs/Activities
Our after-school clubs and activities have started. The Activity Card fee is $50 per student. Cash or check made payable to Chelmsford Public Schools should be turned into your child's homeroom teacher along with a completed Non-School Health Directive. The activity card allows students to take full advantage of any clubs they wish to attend. The after-school activities run from 2:40-3:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the year. The list of activities are posted outside of the office daily. Students also have the option of taking a late bus home. The routes are posted in the school and will not be posted publicly. We will work with students and the drivers to be sure kids take the correct bus home. Since we only have 3 late buses, the stops tend to be more spread out than the “regular” bus runs. After activities, students who are not taking a bus will exit the school into the Crooked Spring Road lot and can be picked up there. Please see the attachments below for details and descriptions
