Keystone XL Pipeline
Obama should NOT APPROVE the construction of the KEYSTONE XL PIPELINE
Jobs by TransCanada for The Keystone XL Pipeline are unsubstantiated and the project will not only create fewer jobs but that the project could actually kill more jobs than it creates.
- The project budget direct impacts the U.S. employment between $3 and $4 billion or about half of what industry claims.
- Jobs will be temporary and between 85-90% of the people hired to do the work will be non-local or from out of state.
The Keystone XL Pipeline would have a number of risk factors for a spill or contamination situation. Which could increase the risk of a pipe failure. The tar sand oil is highly corrosive. It also sinks rather than floats, making clean-up extremely difficult in the case of a spill.
The Keystone XL Pipeline could cause Global Warming which can damage GDP.
GOP Rep. Bill Cassidy, quoted "This will create other economic activity. This will ripple out through the economy."
