Borders and Power

By Tatum Brown

Borders

Borders are known as the area controlled by a nation's government that are outlined by boundaries. The boundaries can be physical borders such as mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. Or they can also be man-made borders such as bridges, roads, canals, etc. Borders can divide two countries from one another, such as the United States and Canada, they can divide states apart, such as Texas from Oklahoma, or they can divide continents from one another.

Power

Power can be described as the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events. Power can show the amount of control an important figure has over a nation, and is a reflection of the influence the person has on the country, such as Barack Obama and the United States. Government power can come in all different forms such as dictatorships, republics, democracies, monarchies, etc.
