Congratulations to Erin Bates. She went to Boston last week and presented at the CEC Conference in Boston. I can't wait to hear your stories about that far away land of Boston. Thanks for presenting on the national level.

Kindergarten Round-Up - This week, we will celebrate NEW Bobcats!! We are expecting a lot of new kindergartners at Kinder Round-Up this Tuesday from 2-6. If you are available to step in and help in any way, please see Robin for an assignment. Remember to share the news about this event because some new kinder parents just don't know. Thanks
BOBCATS ON BROADWAY is coming this week. The lineup sounds like something you do not want to miss. Want a night of entertainment? See you this Tuesday in the CHS auditorium @ 6:00PM.
Please be cognizant of the great Poetry Celebration happening in the cafeteria on Wednesday and Thursday. I am very excited about how these students will PERFORM for their parents this year with all of the practice and input from their teachers including Mrs. Grace. I am sure there will be some drama!
Make sure you are planning for the STAAR training on Wednesday. Follow-up information from the previous administration will be shared.
Every year we talk about the Character March that happens in May. This year will be no different EXCEPT... this year we have PERFORMERS. I am so excited. If at all possible, please try to attend. The flyer for students and parents will be going home electronically but truly YOUR endorsement of the event goes a lot further than anything I could send.
Kindergarten Graduation - I know we reported the Kindergarten graduation would be at CHS. We were really trying to look out for the comfort of our customers as well as the ease of being able to see their sweet babies. However, due to changes in the high school event calendar, we will not be doing the 2016-2017 graduation at CHS this year. We are trying to secure another venue but if all else fails, we'll be in the gym. If you are willing to help with graduation, please see Morgan. I am sure they will not turn good help away.

A Few More Important Things
Congratulations, Kindergarten. Your attendance was at 97.55% last week. Our overall rate was 96.35%. We really would like to end the year with a strong 97+%. Please continue to encourage and even provide incentives for attendance. Don't forget the weekly collection of weekly perfect attendance slips. This is what we draw from for prizes at the end of the year.
Tonight should be the final reading of The Lemonade War. I really appreciate those who have embraced the story and the family/school reading of this Texas Reads One Book event. Encourage parents to keeping reading even if they are not on track. Finish what you start!
I've pulled the Failure Report for the last 6-weeks grading report. I see a lot of borderline passing/failing grades. If it is a matter of a couple of points to students passing, I wonder if an additional small group time or individual conference with a student about their progress might make the difference in making it over the hump. Your instruction adjustments may be what can help them over the hump. (It is never too late to adjust.) It may be a visit from a Mentor that would make that little bit of change for that student. Data Folders are also a great source of information about progress if they are used consistently and constantly and correctly. Do your students reflect on their progress often enough?
Congratulations to several students who are completing the Accelerated Math in the 5th grade. It is really exciting for us to have so many students participating to begin with but now they are completing the program. Please encourage these students to be diligent with their work.
Congratulations to several students who won a prize in the 1st National Bank Easter Coloring Contest:
Molly DaMommio - 2nd Place in K-1st
Leia Beckett - 2nd Place in 2nd-3rd
Madelyn Ramirez - 4th Place in 2nd-3rd
Olivia Martin - 3rd Place in 4th-5th
Palesa Thao - 4th Place in 4th-5th
Olivia Rhodes - 5th Place in 4th-5th
Campus - Overall Most Participation
THANK YOU, TEACHERS, for encouraging and promoting this contest. Every time a student receive recognition for what they do well, it is an encouragement to do more and better next time. We never can tell what they will be encouraged to do next.
