Panui Week 9 Term 3
St. Mary's Primary School Gisborne 23 September 2021
Special Character Focus - Turangawaewae: Catholic Schools - A Place to Stand
Nga Mihi Nui,
We have lots to celebrate and are blessed to be part of the St Mary's School Community. Next week throughout New Zealand we celebrate Catholic Schools Day 29 September 2021
Theme is Turangawaewae : Catholic Schools - A Place to Stand
Turangawaewae is the understanding that we have places where we feel connected and inspired. Foundations and connections to faith are strengthened in our Catholic schools which are part of the wider Church.
We will begin our day with Liturgy outside in our Green Gold Enviro School celebrating God’s creation. Bishop Steve is celebrating mass which is being live streamed to all our schools at 9.30. In the afternoon we will be having a Faith Fun Run Event.
Thank you for supporting St Mary’s Catholic School.
God bless
Sharyn Tilley
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora ~ Kumusta ~ Kia Orana ~ Mālō e lelei ~Talofa lava ~ Greetings to you all
Today we enjoyed a thoroughly fabulous 'St Mary's Got Talent' show in our school hall. Our kids showcased such a wide range of talents be it dancing, singing, playing musical instruments or performing magic tricks. It was a joy to watch. We are so sorry that Covid Alert Level 2 restrictions prevented us from having our school extended whanau with us too. Congratulations to our winners: Kylah Loftus and Charlotte Gray, our overall winners, for their fantastic tap dancing routine, Emma Ruelins for a graceful ballet dance, Sebastian Loftus for his very happy tap dance and Charlotte Jones for her superb ukulele playing (fingerpicking great rifts and strumming) accompanied with a powerful singing performance. A huge thank you to Mrs Aperahama for all her background work and organisation and also to our young leaders who helped run the show and announced the performers. Here is the link if you'd like to view the show. Apologies for the poor sound quality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1pElL8q3Qs
Gisborne Catholic Early Childhood Centre
Work behind the scenes has continued for our Gisborne Catholic Early Childhood Centre. We will soon be starting fundraising for kitting out the new centre. Next term there will be a raffle and an 'It's in the Bag' evening for the adults. On behalf of the Diocese, we will also be sharing out brochures for donations or sponsorship. It is our hope that both Campion College, our school and the Parish get in behind supporting our Catholic Early Childhood. It is going to be quite a unique situation having an Early Childhood, Primary School, Secondary School and Church all in such close proximity. We will become a real 'te kainga' or 'home fire' for the Catholic faith in our region.

We are seeking indications of interest from families with pre-schoolers. If you or a family member have a child who is under 5 and would be interested in attending the centre could you please register your interest by stating your contact details, the child's name, date of birth and an indication of the day/hours they may be attending. Indications of interest do NOT lock you into attending or mean you have to have only those days/hours. At this stage, it is only indicating an interest. We are attempting to gauge community interest. Children do not have to be Catholic to attend.
Please forward indicators of interest to:
