Fun in February
What is Going On in Room 5 This Month!
What Are We Working On?
We have started working in our brand new unit in reading. The students are going to love this unit because it focuses on animals and what makes them unique. We have already learned so much about different animals and I love hearing the students discuss how the animals are unique and special as well as how they themselves are unique and special. Ask your child what the word unique means!
We have already started a brand new unit in math. This unit focuses on measurement using different units. It is full of fun activities that I know the students will enjoy! They will be measuring things like fish, supplies in the classroom, and so much more!
In Phonics we will be finishing up our review week and moving on to Unit 5 which looks at different spellings of long vowels among other new spelling patterns! We have just started using the online tool Kahoot to review our words each week! These quizzes are fun and an engaging way for them to review their words! Keep working with your child at home by reading daily and reviewing the spelling and sight words for each week.
Finally, in Social Studies we will be finishing up our unit about our state of Maryland and will be moving on to our next Science unit!
I am so excited to continue to watch your child grow and learn new things this month!
Blizzard Jonas on the Chesapeake Bay!
I can't wait to share all of the blizzard pictures of my students during our morning meetings this week!
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS
There is a new scholastic catalog coming out for February. If you wish to order, use the link below and make sure you enter in our class code P8KB3. All orders will be submitted by 10:30pm on the last day of each month!
Also, our classroom is once again on a dry-erase marker shortage. We use these everyday so it does not surprise me how quickly we go through them. I bought a few packs to replenish our supplies but if anyone would like to donate any that would be greatly appreciated!
