Mozart: A Child Prodigy

We know quite a bit about Mozart's early life. His father, Leopold, was a well known musician in Austria and taught Mozart about music from a young age. By the age of five, Mozart had learned to play the harpsichord and was writing music. By the time he was six, he was so famous that the Queen of Austria invited him to play for her. By the time he was 14, he had written many pieces of music including sonatas and orchestras.

Mozart in Austria

Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria. By the time he was 10, he had traveled all over Salzburg and other parts of Austria. In 1781, only ten years before his death, he left Salzburg to go to Vienna. While he was in Vienna, he married Constanze Weber. She was a professional singer and had six children with Mozart. However, only two of the children liver into adulthood.

Requiem

This was the last piece of music that Mozart ever wrote. He was commissioned to write it for somebody else. However, since he thought he was dying, he thought of it as the music for his own death. He, unfortunately died before he could finish it. His wife kept his death a secret for as long as she could in order for one of Mozart associates to be able to finish it for him. She did this because she needed the money that the commission would give her.

Mozart's Music

Some of Mozart's other music included Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte as well as piano concertos and many symphonies. He wrote for chorus, piano, full orchestra and much more.

Mozart's legecy

Though he died young he accomplished great things during his few years on Earth. He is one of the most famous composers the world has ever known. He had a true talent for what he did and people today still recognize that. His is a story that has been told and retold all over the world. It has been made into movies and plays and books. The world will not soon forget Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
