-South Carolina was the warmest of the three regions.

-Good agriculture land, farming and plantation were important.

-The plantations export tobacco, cotton, corn, vegetables, grain, fruit and livestock.

-Founded in 1663 by the English colonists.

-The major town was Charleston.

-The winters were not difficult to survive but the warmer climate gave rise to the spread of disease.

-The original name of the colony was the Province of South Carolina, later South Carolina.

-They had the largest slave population who worked on the plantations.

-Plantations grew cotton, tobacco, rice, sugar, indigo, and other crops.

-Crops were traded for items that could not be produced on the plantations including shoes, lace, thread, farm tools and dishes.

-In 1712 South Carolina becomes a separate colony.

-Not a specific religion which gave way to religious freedom.

-It was the 8th of the original 13 colonies to become a state on May 23, 1788.
