I'm working on a creative project to bring to the May meeting for our members only sale. What will you have on the table?
A BIG THANK YOU goes to the past Pen Women officers, Committee Chairmen and those who presented an Inspirational Moment, Sweet Treats and donated to the fifty fifty raffle. With your help the Pen wheels keep turning.

Kat Heckenbach
April's Program Speaker
A gifted poet, she has been writing since childhood, and she comes from four generations of musicians. She read six insightful poems, one "ekphrastic poem" (a vivid description of a scene or, more commonly, a work of art. Through the imaginative act of narrating and reflecting on the “action” of a painting or sculpture, the poet may amplify and expand its meaning) from her Frida Kahlo - Dali Museum manuscript. The poetry piece titled: Daughter of the Revolution was inspired by Frida's self portrait "Time Flies" painting.

Tampa Branch Monthly Meeting - 3rd Tuesday
Program: Shane and Emily Music
Barb Routen: "Several months ago, I asked Shane & Emily, a Tampa Bay-area musical duo, to speak to the Tampa Pen Women in May. Although they had to smooth out a scheduling glitch, recently they told me they WILL come to our May meeting. I am very excited to share them with you!
Mark and I hosted Shane & Emily’s first-ever Concerts in Your Home show after we had seen them play several venues around town. Their sweet harmonies, cool-jazz piano grooves, often-changing counterpoint rhythms, finger-style guitar, ukulele riffs, live use of technology—and their cute factor!—thrilled our audience.
Shane & Emily’s exceptionally creative songs come from real-life events you’d never imagine. Our guests loved the stories that made the couple’s lyrics even more captivating and fun.
This duo is delightful, and I highly recommend you come hear what they say about the creative process as it relates to storytelling through song. Talk about painting pictures with words! Maybe they’ll even play us a tune or two.
Visit http://shaneandemilymusic.com and listen to their songs at the bottom of the page. Someday, these two will be famous, and you’ll be able to say you met them in Tampa!
Don’t miss this program!"

Submitted by Barb Routen:
Nancy Christie, March's guest program speaker (Letters) is inviting fellow authors to contribute to her new book.
"So I’m working on a new book (go here for details) and for the chapter I’m working on, I'm looking for insights from writers about their writing spaces. Where do you write & what’s in your writing room? What makes the perfect writing space?
There’s more at today’s post: http://tinyurl.com/YourWritingSpace
I’d love input from you and the rest of your writing buddies—either at the post or email me directly!"
