Listeria Monocytogenes is a serious bacteria that causes "Listeriosis" an infection usually caused by eating food contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes. Listeriosis primarily affects:older adults, pregnant women and adults with weakened immune systems.
How to prevent
To prevent getting Listeriosis you should:
Avoid consuming unpasteurized milk or anything with unpasteurized milk in it.
Wash hands, knives,countertops and cutting boards after preparing or handling uncooked foods.
Rinse raw produce under running tap water before eating
What listeriosis does
The symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, and even nausea and diarrhea, ,although if infection spread to the central nervous system it may cause head ache, stiff neck , confusion, loss of balance, or even convulsions may occur
