Mrs. Eske's Team: Building Leaders
4th Grade Newsletter * Week of October 18-21
From the Desk of Mrs. Eske:
I have certainly enjoyed having the opportunity to be your child's teacher this school year!! Each child has made so much progress, since our first day of school! I look forward to sharing each child's accomplishments and areas for growth during Parent Teacher Conference Week, next week!!! I will be sending out conference reminder notices tomorrow. 1st Quarter grade cards will be sent home at the time of our scheduled conference. I will also be sending home your child's beginning of the year IREADY scores for reading and math. Together we can review strengths, weaknesses, and suggestions for ensuring that your child is where they need to be by the end of the school year!
Thank you for all you do to support your child each day!!
Mrs. Eske
Building LEADERS one subject at a time!!
Reading: This week we will read the nonfiction text, Bats about Bats! We will review nonfiction text features, and identify what we wonder and what we learn about this fun book about bats. We will also continue to meet for small group skill and comprehension instruction. Students started reader's workshop rotations last week. We have five rotations that are part of our reading schedule at this time. The stations include: writing about our reading, Lexia practice, independent reading, partner reading, and small group reading. We are doing a really nice job of staying on task and transitioning quietly!
Writing: In writing, we will continue working on personal narratives.
Math: This week we will review multiplication properties and division rules and the associative property of multiplication. We will wrap up the unit with identifying factors and multiples of whole numbers.
Content: We are currently in the process of constructing a 5 Regions Lap Book for our Project Based Learning Unit: On the Move/Regions and Exploration. We have been researching landforms and waterways for each of the 5 regions and writing down examples, while identifying what regions that the examples were found.
