Who was she?
Margaret Cavendish was an english aristocrat, prolific writer, and a scientist. she was the youngest sister of prominent royalists Sir John Lucas and Sir Charles Lucas. She became an attendant of QueenHerenita and travelled with her into exile in France, living for a time at the court of the young King Louis XVI
What did she do?
Her work is important for a number of reasons. One is that it lays out an early and very compelling version of the naturalism that is found in current-day philosophy and science. It also offers important insights that bear on recent discussions of the nature and characteristics of intelligence and the question of whether or not the bodies that surround us are intelligent or have an intelligent cause.
