Welcome to our EXPLO Team Newsletter!

Sixth grade is learning about the history of Pop Art including artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. They are working on creating their own Pop Art design inspired by Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans, and subjects from popular culture today.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at cschmitz@fulton58.org
Thank you.

7th Grade Band is also diligently preparing for their concert on October 20th. Once again we are working on playing in cut time as well as playing with a jazzy mood. We are very excited about to present the pieces we are working on! 7th grade should also follow the dress code lined out in the band handbook for the concert.
8th Grade Band is working on two pieces for our concert. One piece is an overture for band that highlights every section in the band, our second piece is a concert march that shows helps the students to work on their musicality as well as technique. Each section has a tough part in this piece, so make sure that you student is bringing their instrument home to practice. The concert for them will begin at 7:15 on October 20. Please make sure that your student wears a black band polo and khaki pants with black dress shoes for the concert. If you have not already paid for your students band polo you may do so at any time, the cost is $13.00.
7th and 8th grade wire choir are working on playing tablabture pieces in an ensemble setting. The Wire Choir t-shirts are in and cost $11.00. Each student should wear this to the concert on October 20.
7th Grade Arts Alive just finished taking a test over notes and rhythms. For the remainder of the term we will be looking at different cultures and the music, art, food and people of that country. Mexico is the first country we have started looking at, student just finished a presentation over Mariachi instruments and are getting ready to start preparing a feast of EPIC proportions!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact wither Ms. Neudecker of Ms. Glynn at kneudecker@fulton58.org or sglynn@fulton58.org.
Ms. Lehman and Dr. Moebes
Hornet Singers have been learning the basics of what a successful choir rehearsal looks like and how that benefits the ensemble. We have been preparing for our Fall Fine Arts Night coming up on October 20th with our theme of "River Songs". We have been pleased to have Mrs. Sayler join us once a week for our rehearsals.
Choir polos have been ordered and cost $13.00 ($15.00 2X and bigger). Cash or checks are accepted with checks made out to Fulton Middle School. Students should be getting their own khaki pants, black socks, and black shoes so we can look our best on stage.
8th grade Arts Alive has completed their study of orchestral instruments and are now putting that knowledge to work. We've been picking pieces apart and discovering the various instruments heard as well as matching what we hear with what we see in various video clips. The students are learning about style, mood, instrumentation, rhythm, and so much more through these in-depth comparisons...and they are ROCKING IT!
Harmony Hornets is in full swing and doing well! Posture and proper breathing have been big focuses thus far in rehearsals and the students are catching on nicely. With once a week Tuesday rehearsals, it's impressive that we've almost completely made it through one song already and our first concert isn't until December. Dr. Moebes and I are proud of their hard work!
If you ever have any questions, concerns, or comments, feel free to contact me at llehman@fulton58.org.
Hornet Pride Choir (7th grade) is working hard in preparation for our upcoming concert! We would love to see smiling faces in the audience on Tuesday, October 20th at 6:30! Dr. Moebes is collecting money for choir shirts as well. This is part of our uniform, so everyone needs to have one! Please let me know if you have any questions about the attire for the concert. Many thanks to our accompanist, Mrs. Saylor, for helping us along in this process!
6th grade Arts Alive is celebrating performances, and learning about concert etiquette! This week out composer focus is student-guided. Students voted, and each class selected two artists they want to learn about. Featured musicians this week are Silento, Luke Bryan, and Michael Jackson! We are also discussing appropriate concert etiquette, and will wrap up the week with a singing demonstration!
Please feel free to contact me any time! bmoebes@fulton58.org.
