The Weekly Hoot
April 9-15, 2018
Greetings All -
Happy Friday! I can't tell all of you how great it felt to get up this morning and come to work!! I know they are only preliminary results, but I felt like the weight of the world was lifted off of my shoulders yesterday. Thank you to all of the texts, emails, and phone calls. I know I did not answer everyone, but I can assure you that the love was felt and appreciated. You are a wonderful family to be apart of! Weeks like this past couple of weeks make me very grateful for every day I am given on this wonderful ride we call life. In the wee hours of the morning when I would be talking to God instead of sleeping the past couple of weeks, I told Him that if he would just let this be anything but cancer, I would stop wishing my life away. I won't cuss a Monday. I won't countdown to the end of school. I won't be calling myself a "sophomore" and looking forward to retirement (as much!). Instead I would wake up with a sense of purpose and being for the day that He let me wake up to and try to make a difference within that day. Kinda deep, I know, but I promise when you are making promises to God, they get kinda deep! :) Anyway, that is my new attitude. I AM going to find the JOY in every single day. I hope all of you in this crazy, busy, HARD time of the school year will join me.
Next week is our first round of STAAR testing. I know that we all dread it, but I certainly appreciate the amount of effort each and every one of you put into it in making sure that our students have the best possible chance to succeed. Thank you so much for the extra time. I know our students are going to do great.
Speaking of that, on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week Coach Coronado and Mrs. Pyle will hold the students in the gym until 7:45. At 7:45, I need all teachers in there for me to do announcements "old school assembly style" and then we will make a tunnel for the fourth and fifth graders to run through. After that, we will dismiss PK-3rd grade with their teachers. It shouldn't take longer than 5-10 minutes.
We are beginning what I think is the busiest "season" of the year...the "end of school" season. I appreciate the everyone keeping up the level of engagement that is being seen as we walk through the halls. I know, at times, it would be easier to give busy work to your students and get some of the endless things we ask you to get done completed, but it is nice and reassuring to know that you all are professionals and are not doing that. I know that I thank you, but I promise your students thank you also.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Love to all,
Marcy
Owl Wings This Week Go To...
A special "thank you" to everyone who helped in ensuring that our students were able to participate in Special Olympics on Wednesday! It worked out great, and our kiddos did amazing. Thank you to all who helped make that possible.
