We will be reviewing sounds and spellings we have taught this year. We will be reading stories from our old Open Court readers. We will learn about folktales, fables, and fairytales. We will refine our reading skills by reading chapter books. We will review mental images, reading in between the lines (inferring), and story maps (characters, setting, and plot). In writing, we will continue to write opinion pieces.

We will continue to review how to tell time on the hour and half hour. We will continue to review plane shapes (circle, square, triangle and rectangle). We will learn the attributes of each shape. We will learn solid figures (sphere, cylinder, cone, cube, prism,) We will review counting money (dimes and pennies, quarters and pennies, nickels and pennies). Your child should be able to answer 20 problems correct in one minute. We will learn to solve word problems. We will also do math talks.

Mrs. Tweed treated us to Krispy Kreme doughnuts after our awards ceremony. We even got to walk the red carpet.

Each student is allowed 6 parent excuses per year (this is a change from years past). Parent excuses can be a hand written note or you may email the excuse to your child’s teacher and copy the excuse to: PPattendance@trussvillecityschools.com.
An ORIGINAL doctor’s excuse may be turned in from the parent by the student. Doctor’s excuses may be faxed to 205-228-3201 ONLY by the doctor’s office. We can NOT accept a faxed doctor’s excuse from a parent.
All excuses MUST be turned in within 3 days of the absence.
