The Moon and Tides

The Moon and Tides

Tides- The ocean is pulled by the moon which is called "Tides". Even tho the moon's pull on the ocean is greater than the sun's pull it still affects the sea.

High Tides & low tides- Picture you at a beach, if you can see that the water is higher then it was 12 hours ago that's called a high tide. A high tide is when the moon and the sun is lined up together the highest high tide is called a spring tide. When the moon makes a right angle with the sun its called a low tide, a low tide is usealy 6 hours apart from the high tide, the lowest low tide is called a neap tide.

Moon Phases-The Moon changes phases all the time, every night the moon looks different. Every beginning of a month the moon is full, that is called the Full Moon, the next day its a quarter moon, by the end of the month you cant see the moon at all, that's called the New Moon. Next month it is the full moon again so its a pattern like the water cycle.

Moon and Tides- The moon has forces lowest low tide and highest high tide. The moon phases represents north, south, east, and west. But the moon is pulling the sides of the earth. There both affected by something. We would have no water and we would have no tides and it would be total darkness at night.
