Updates/Reminders
Observations:
Our deadline for finishing all observations for teachers on Comprehensive Plans is fast approaching so we are starting round 4 for those folks right away.Safety and The Front Office:
Beginning Monday, those working the front desk will begin to fully utilize the front door security system. There are always many moving pieces in the front office with parents and students during high volume times (7:45 - 8:15 and 2:15 - 3:00). Please help them be able to focus on what they are doing by not adding to the requests made of them during these times. If you need things, please leave a note, email or see if someone other than the person working the front desk can help. The door and phone are enough to manage.
World's Fair Information:
Please click on this link and provide the following information:
1. The country or topic your class is studying for World's Fair and two 30-minute times during the week of March 26 - 29 when you will be available to do a cultural exchange with another class. (Remember that March 29th is an Early Release Day.) Please provide this information no later than Wednesday, March 14th. It will be posted on a sign-up sheet the following week.
2. There will be an "Amazing Race" Scavenger Hunt during the World's Carnival on March 23rd. The class display boards will be placed at various outside locations designated with balloons. Please provide a question that can be easily answered by using the information on your board. The question is needed by Wednesday, March 21st.
If there is anyone else who is preparing a display board and/or who wants to be involved with a cultural exchange who is not listed on the spreadsheet, you may add his/her name at the bottom.
Feel free to contact Becky Whyte (bwhyte@chatham.k12.nc.us) if you have questions. Thank you very much for all you are doing to prepare for World's Fair Week!!
Revised Fire Drill Procedures:
As we discussed at our last staff meeting, fire drill procedures during a lockdown should look differently. Please read the attached sheet (Revised Fire Drill Procedures) about procedures and ask if you have any questions.
Location for Quarterly Planning
We have been given a spot in a central location for this round of quarterly planning! All the sessions are in the CCSouth Building (Behind Horton Middle, immediately next to the gym. Come to the door at the top of the little paved parking lot for CSSouth) EXCEPT Kindergarten on March 28th. Kindergarten will be meeting in the Horton Professional Development Center (by the baseball field). If you have any questions, please let me know! Hope this will help with the drive! All quarterly planning sessions will begin at 8:00!
Inclement Weather Employee Absence Reporting & Make-Up Time Procedures
- Please read over these procedures which were discussed on March 9th with IAs. The School Board approved the policy for make up days for all staff members.
- We will begin recording on the NCE Time Sheet for Classified Staff for any administrator approved event (see Carla/Sarah for approval unless it is stated in newsletter)
- Right now, we need help for World's Carnival and this will be a double time event! Clean-up for the evening will earn even more! All time must be recorded on the sheet and not on the time clock (classified staff). Certified staff will continue earning hours as you have always done.
- Please turn NCE time sheets in after each event so they can be signed and we will be able to keep a running balance of time. Remember this is just like payroll.
It is important to remember that you are paid in advance. If you do not make up time then you may owe money back to the district.
Calendar extended due to snow by 5 days/Paychecks remained the same.
If you don't want to work until June 21st, your options will be to use Annual Leave, NCE time or Leave without Pay.
World's Carnival is coming soon! Sign up if you want to hep and earn NCE TIME: World's Carnival Sign Up
PTA Idea for Raffle/Auction:
The PTA has been researching and says these are best sellers at raffles, kids want to do fun things with their teachers. Some ideas that PTA came up with are here. Please do not feel like you must sign up. However, please do if you would like to join in the fun. Your basket will be raffled off/auctioned off to raise money for our school. : ) Please feel free to get creative and add other ideas to the list.
Chatham 360 Nominations: Our SLT team decided to gather more names and table the Chatham 360 selection due to an extra long agenda. Please feel free to continue adding names of potential jaguars that you feel would represent NCE well. You can find out more information about the award here. Please click here to nominate a NCE student for this award.
Supply Lists: Classroom Supply Lists for 18/19 - please work on this with your grade level. Due April 8th. I will give SLT reps. the mock up from the company that was done from last years list. You do not have to include things just from that company. Include what you want and that is what the company will get. Just include brand names if it matters (Clorox wipes, Expo marker, etc).
