Junior Naturalists
Here is information Katie Schmidt referenced recently about a Junior Naturalist program we want to start here at Gatewood. I'm excited about this opportunity for our students. You will find links to a video and an application for students. Please check with Katie if you have any questions.
Are you a 4th, 5th or 6th grader who loves the outdoors? Are you passionate about animals, the environment, recycling and making our world a better place for kids in the future? Would you like to be a member of a team who learns more about environmental education, takes care of our building grounds and helps with projects outside year round? If you answered yes to these questions, consider being a Gatewood Junior Naturalist this school year! Watch the video, fill out the application and give it to your classroom teacher by Friday, September 28th!

Monthly Meeting Schedule
I have been working on a monthly meeting schedule to collaborate, connect, support, and focus on my priorities for this school year. Here is a tentative monthly meeting schedule that may be adjusted depending on other meetings and needs. We might find that teams or committees might not need to meet monthly and we'll make adjustments for that. I am going to start this framework in October, but will be scheduling some of our committee meetings on available days in September. I'm keeping Tuesdays open for special education meetings and staffings and Friday for other meetings. Thank you.

Mark's Monthly Commitments
Here are my regular, monthly commitments as required by the Superintendent and other system leaders. I will include the specific dates and times in the weekly bulletin so you know when I am out of the building for these district commitments.
Courageous Leadership Training required by the Superintendent (full day once a month)
Elementary Principals Meeting (half-day once a month)
Minnesota Department of Human Rights Meeting convened by Assistant Superintendent Nik Lightfoot (one hour starting at 4:00 every week to start the year)
If you have any questions, please see me. Thank you.
