Girls Who Code
Girls Who Code club is an opportunity for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls to learn about computer science and develop a community of confident, caring girls. You can read more about this organization on their About Us page here, which includes the “Why It Matters” information when you scroll down the page. Each meeting will build upon the content and skills from the week before, so it will be important to attend each week if possible.
If you are interested in joining the Girls Who Code club at Blanton, please sign up HERE. There is a 30 student limit, so the form will close once that limit is reached. Our plan is to complete the 10-week series by winter break and then have a new session with 30 new girls in January. If you have any questions, please let Mrs. Krutka know!
Thank You!!!
Safety and Security Update
Part of the bond package voted on in May included safety and security updates for campuses. One of those updates was the addition of a video monitoring system at our main campus entrance. We are happy to share with you that the installation is complete and is now in active use.
Pushing the button on the monitoring system will notify the front office through the video phone. We will be able to communicate with you two-way through the monitoring system. Please, have your ID available to present if asked. Please review this with your children, as the doors will be locked if they are tardy. They will need to press the doorbell for us to know they are there and unlock the door.
We are available to answer any questions you may have regarding the new system. Thank you for your support!
Counselor's Corner
This quarter the focus in our guidance lessons will be Decision Making Skills and Problem Solving. Students will discuss different approaches to problem solving that include learning from past experiences, choosing positive role models to learn from, using beliefs and values to guide actions, and accepting responsibility for decisions to resolve conflict. Please stay tuned this quarter for more information as well as tips on ways you can encourage good decision making skills at home.
