Mrs. Scott - Art
Kimberly Scott, has been passionate about art since she could hold a crayon. Born and raised in Oklahoma, she graduated from UCO with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education. She has been employed as a certified Art educator by the Putnam City School District since 2006. She was recognized as her school’s “Teacher of the Year” in 2013 – 2014, and the Downtown Rotary Teacher of the Month in January, 2015. Kimberly spent every school break – summer, fall, winter and spring – teaching at various local art studios throughout her college career and has continued to do so during her public school teaching tenure. Kimberly knows art is not only fun, but it is also a great catalyst to a better understanding of all school subjects and wonderful way to express creativity and uniqueness. Kimberly also owns her own art studio, Artsy Rose outside of school to continue to share her passion for art with people of all ages.

Mrs. Oakes - Music
Deborah Oakes holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in vocal performance/ music education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and has completed post graduate hours toward a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance at UT Austin. During her more than forty years as a music educator, she has taught all levels of public school music as well as private voice and piano and is an expert on the vocal pedagogy of young singers. Her contributions to music education include curriculum writing,research, new teacher training and leadership within a Professional Learning Community. An experienced adjudicator, clinician and accompanist, Mrs. Oakes is also an active presenter in areas of vocal and choral education, teacher development and the integration of technology into the elementary music classroom.
Mrs. Oakes, who moved to Oklahoma from Texas in 2015, loves teaching at Ralph Downs and considers herself to be a full-fledged Roadrunner! She also loves reading, entertaining, sewing and spending time with her two daughters, their husbands and her two grandchildren, Harrison and Everett.

Mrs. Oakes is also our Ralph Downs Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2018-19.

Ms. Waring - Physical Education
Ms. Kate Waring holds a graduate degree in Sport, Health & Leisure from Trinity and All Saints College University of Leeds in England, UK. Kate graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Masters degree in Education in 2011. Kate has taught at Ralph Downs for 8 years, was voted the 2014-15 Teacher of the Year; District Excellent Educator 2014-15; Rotary Teacher of the Month Feb 2015 and is currently the District Chair for both Physical Education and the annual Putnam City Cancer Classic event. Kate has earned many grants and scholarships for Ralph Downs Elementary and was a part of the $2.3 million dollar grant the Physical Education department was awarded in 2013. Kate has presented workshops and activities at both district and state level and continues to attend professional development trainings to keep her program fresh and up to date.
Originally from Liverpool, England, Kate moved to Oklahoma in 2009 where she now lives with her family. Kate enjoys traveling, camping, gardening and watching English football. Still devoted to Liverpool FC, Kate will wake early at the weekends to watch the games streamed live from England.
