BEAR Talk
November 2023
From the Desk of Mrs. Schrag,
Everyday I am so impressed with the kindness and compassion our student's show in this building.
I'd like to take a moment to recognize a very special honor classes receive at RES each month. The RES Championship Belt is presented during our school wide morning meeting, once a month, to a classroom who is displaying positive behavior during their specials times this month.
Mrs. Singleton's 4th grade has won it, as well as our most recent winner, Mrs. McAllister's class!
If you hear your student talking about this belt, this is a huge honor. We love celebrating your students!
Hopefully you have found your warm clothes and are prepared for the colder weather! Please remember to join me and other staff members in the library for donuts, coffee and conversation November 30th at 8:10. I have really enjoyed the time getting to know all of you!
Happy Fall,
Mrs. Schrag

Snacks--Thank you to the families who have already sent crackers this nine weeks. You can also send money and the teachers will purchase the crackers for you.
Water Bottles--Please make sure they come daily with your kiddos. And keep them clean as the cold season is upon us.
Coats/Jackets--Take some time to practice zipping and putting on gloves or mittens with your child at home. We will be going outside for recess in cold temperatures.
Fire Safety Month--McPherson Fire Department came to our classroom this week. The kiddos did a great job of listening and now know exactly what to do if there is a fire. Please help your child learn their address and phone number for their safety.

The 5th Grade class will perform at 7:00 p.m..
Students should dress in nice clothing! Any fall or nice dress clothes are perfect! When choosing clothing, please keep in mind that the children will be actively involved in music making, sitting, and standing! No hats will be allowed.
On the evening of November 16th, 5th Grade students need to be in the music room 15 minutes before their performance.

Stay Healthy!
Sick season is approaching, so here are some friendly reminders from your school nurses-
School-aged children can experience many colds and viruses throughout the school year. Most of the time common colds will not keep your child home from school but there will be times that your child should stay home. Please follow the guidelines below to know when you should keep your child home from school because of illness.
A fever of 100.0 or higher. They should also be sent home if their temperature is elevated and have symptoms that indicate the onset of an contagious illness such as nausea, a headache, cough and/or sneezing. It is important to remember that your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without Tylenol or any other fever-reducing medications before returning to school.
Vomiting or diarrhea. These could be signs of a contagious illness and your child should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Strep throat. Your child must be on antibiotics and fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school after a diagnosis of strep throat from a doctor.
Contagious skin conditions. Your child will be required to stay home for 24 hours after treatment has been initiated and will need a physician’s written approval to return to school.
Pink eye. Your child must be on antibiotic eye drops for 24 hours before returning to school
There are other illnesses that may keep your child home that have not been listed above. Please contact your school nurse if you question whether or not your child should attend school.
