Afternoon Graham Families,
I hope you're staying warm on this blistery day. We had quite the week at Graham, with several events taking place inside our walls, as well as outside in our community. I've always been very moved by the fierce dedication and community service on display by our Graham community members, and this week was no different. Thank you for all you do to support our school.
This week, Parent/Teacher Conferences opened up for scheduling, and despite the initial technological difficulties, I hope everyone was able to set up a time to speak with your student's teachers either in-person or virtually. The Parent-Teacher relationship is a vital part of your student's success here at Graham, and I encourage you to take the opportunity, if available, to cultivate that relationship. Guidance for conferences will be sent out prior to next Thursday.
Lastly, I know this time of year brings many requests for aid and charitable giving, but if you find yourself with the time or means, please consider sending your student in the morning with one of the requested items the PTA is collecting for Hesed House, or that the District is collecting for GiftMart. There are many populations who would benefit from these services, and with donation boxes directly inside the Door #1 entryway, it's an easy way to make a difference this season. More information on what is needed can be found below.
Have a wonderful weekend, and we'll see you all back here on Monday!
Ms. Walton
Winter Recess Procedures
Due to the drop in temperature, we want to make sure that students are dressed appropriately for the weather.
Please note that students go outside for a 15 minute recess everyday unless the temperature drops below 5 degrees, including wind chill. In order to ensure this can be done safely, please make sure that students are dressed appropriately for the weather with a coat, hat, and gloves.
In cases where there is snow on the ground, students will need to wear boots and snow pants to play on the field.
Scheduling Parent-Teacher Conferences
Through November 16th at 6pm, parents will have the opportunity to schedule parent/teacher conferences for either Thursday, November 18th or Monday, November 22nd.
Conferences on Thursday, November 18th will be held in person from 4:30 - 8pm.
Conferences on Monday, November 22nd will be held virtually from 8am - 3pm and 4:30 - 8pm.
Parents can schedule through ParentVUE. Conference scheduling will remain open through November 16th at 6pm.
Watch this short video to see a step-by-step guide for scheduling your conference.
TONIGHT!
Classes will be coming to the LMC to read while relaxing on their blankets or sleeping bags. They will be listening to the sounds of the outdoors: birds, crickets, and even some light rain. Staff and students are encouraged to wear “camping” attire such as flannel shirts, jeans, hats, or any appropriate clothing. The LMC will be decorated to resemble a camp site. Be on the lookout for bears!
GiftMart Toy Donations | November 8th - December 6th
This year, GiftMart will be once again collecting toys for under-resourced families in Indian Prairie School District 204!
Parents and/or guardians are invited to the Giftmart Toyshop where they can purchase new toys for $2.00 per toy. 100% of the proceeds made from the sale of each toy will be donated back to each invited school to fund much needed resources.
Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy that is safe for children ages 6-12. No stuffed animals or board games, please. There will be a Giftmart Toy Box located inside Graham from November 8th – December 6th. They encourage everyone to shop early this year based on the anticipated toy shortage!

Celebrating Veterans Day
On Thursday, Graham elementary took time to remember and honor those who have served in our Armed Forces and thank them for their commitment, and service to our country. Although we were unable to celebrate in an in-person assembly, students and staff were able to enjoy a video that honored those family members of the Graham Community for their service.
We understand there were some omissions from our original video, which we're deeply sorry for, but have gladly updated the Veterans Day video above to reflect all submissions.
