St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 9 | 22 JUNE 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,
Our term has almost come to an end, and I would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff for the wonderful work that they have been doing with our students. The students have been working well in classes and I have been very pleased with the quality of their work.
Many thanks to Mr Chatt and Mr Harris for the work that they did with training and preparing our students for the inter school cross country this week. It was an outstanding effort by everyone with the team coming second overall. All the students are to be congratulated on the way that they participated and supported each other during the cross country.
I would like to thank all the families who participated in the Strategic Plan Survey. We had an extremely good response to the survey and there were some excellent pointers that the School Advisory Council can incorporate into the School Strategic Plan. The plan is well underway and when completed later this year, will be presented to the school community through the school newsletter. I was also pleased at the extremely positive comments that parents made about how St Columba’s School operates on a day to day basis and the care our staff have for the students.
I am away today and tomorrow attending a PD at the Catholic Education Office. I will also be on
leave next week from midday Tuesday until Friday. Mr Yock will be in charge while I am away.
God bless and keep safe.
Allen McMahon
Principal

NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week will be celebrated by the St Columba’s school community in Week 10. This will involve activities and tasks completed in class that build student understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s culture and customs.
The Week will conclude with a NAIDOC Liturgy on the last day of school, Friday 30 June. We look forward to students deepening their understanding of the First Peoples of Australia as we celebrate the 2023 theme, “For Our Elders!” Students are encouraged to come to school in NAIDOC free dress colours. No donation is required.
