Only a few days left...we can sense the students' excitement and anticipation as summer is just around the corner.
I would be remiss if I did not again take this opportunity to give a special thank you to our families for your recent collaboration, cooperation, support, encouragement and patience over the course of this pandemic. We cannot thank you enough for your help and understanding during this unique time in education. We are better together and truly appreciate you partnering with us. Thank you again! It is so very appreciated.
Our learning schedule for next week will be:

On behalf of the entire Shawnee family, we wish everyone a safe, restful and relaxing summer. Again, thank you for all of your support and cooperation throughout this school year. We could not do what we do and accomplish our mission without your partnership. I feel blessed to be a part of the Shawnee community and I look forward to starting another awesome school year in September 2021.

Health & Safety Reminders
For the safety of all, please be sure you are following our guidelines. Please do not send your student to school if they are ill or are experiencing symptoms. Please review the guidelines and protocols here. Also, communication has recently been sent regarding an update to students in quarantine. Click here for more information. Please remember, children who are quarantined should refrain from being on school property during their quarantine period. Parents, please do not let older children in quarantine pick up their younger siblings from school. We need to all work together to make sure our community is healthy and safe.
Congratulations 5th Grade Stars!
Congratulations to our fifth grade Shawnee Stars on a job well done as they finish their last year of elementary school and continue their educational journey to middle school. We celebrated our 5th Grade Stars completion of elementary school on Monday, June 7th at Seneca Middle School. We know they will do great as we have witnessed so much growth over the years and are confident they have a strong foundation to build upon. We wish them the very best! They will be missed!

CVS Virtual Field Day
Calling all Shawnee Students! We invite you to join in and participate in the 2021 Virtual CVS Elementary PE Field Day! Since we can't have a traditional Field Day we are hoping families and friends can get together and have some physically active fun! An activity video presentation has been shared by each elementary Physical Education teacher that can be completed with items found around your house (some planning may be necessary to obtain materials). Families can pick and choose or participate in all activities! Download the completion certificate at the end. Opening day was Wednesday, May 12 and it continues throughout the end of the school year so you can participate again and again, and at any time. Follow the link below to the Virtual Field Day. The link can also be found on your child's Schoology PE teacher page.

2021 - 2022 Student Placement & Teacher Requests
Some parents have inquired about requesting a teacher for next school year; therefore, we wanted to send a reminder about our procedures regarding this topic. While we believe your input is important, it is our policy not to allow parent requests for a specific teacher. Our goal at Shawnee is to provide students with the educational environment that will enhance their probability for success. Children are not placed in classrooms at random. Our staff spends a great deal of time placing students and assuring that classrooms are "well-balanced" so the best possible learning environment is provided for your children. Some of the factors we consider are: academic achievement and ability, male / female ratios, equal distribution of students per classroom, special needs, social skills and peer relations, behavior, and learning styles. Please be assured that your child will be placed in a classroom with a caring, dedicated teacher.
School Age Child Care (SACC) Update
Although we cannot currently offer our traditional SACC program, we are pleased to be able to offer an alternative in partnership with Ojibwa Elementary School SACC. Shawnee students can attend SACC at Ojibwa. If you are interested in this SACC alternative, you can register your child(ren) under Shawnee. For more information visit our district SACC page.
Fall 2021 Student Enrollment / Registration
No enrollments will be taken at the school - everything will be handled by the district at the Centralized Registration Office. If you don't have a child entering Kindergarten but know of a neighbor, friend or relative that does, please pass this information along to them!
Grades 1 through 12 are also enrolling now for new students. Click here to begin the enrollment process or click the link below.
We will be offering full-time face to face learning this fall, as well as a virtual option with the Chippewa Valley Virtual Academy.

Parking Lot Reminders
We would like to remind everyone just how important it is to follow the parking lot safety procedures. For the safety of your child and the entire Shawnee community, please follow the parking lot procedures outlined below.
- Use the designated drop-off lane in the front of the school. Do not drop your children off on the parking lot side of the crosswalk or park on the crosswalk.
- When you enter the parent drop-off lane, pull all the way forward as traffic allows. Please do not stop at a certain spot to let your child off closer to their door. Doing this backs up the traffic.
- Please have your child ready to get out of the car. This means mask up and backpack ready. If kids are ready to get out it will keep the line flowing.
- Do not park or leave your car unattended in the drop-off lane. Please do not sit in your car in the drop-off lane waiting to drop-off or pick-up students. The drop-off lane should be continuously moving.
- If you are not using the drop-off lane, you may park and walk your child across the crosswalk and into the building. Do not drop your children off and let them navigate through the parking lot alone. Likewise, children should not be leaving school alone and walking in the parking lot without an adult to try to find their ride.
- Please use the crosswalk no matter where you park or which door your child enters.
- Drive slowly and safely in the parking lot and drop-off lane. There will be people crossing at the painted crosswalks.
- Reserve the handicap parking spaces for the people that have permits. This is not a safe or legal place to make a quick pick-up / drop-off.
- Follow the flow of traffic and honor the one way directions.
Please be patient with each other and always remember you are the #1 role model for your children; they learn by watching us! We want to ensure that every child makes it to and from school safely. We can only accomplish this important task with your help and support.
