April Henry: New York Times-Bestselling Author
Over 20 students were invited to see Author April Henry a New York Times-bestselling author. She is a fascinating writer that travels to schools and instills in students the significance of reading, writing, & researching. April shared many interesting facts about her family.
In 1657, April's 9th great grandfather, William Goodman Meer, was charged with being a witch: bewitching a pig. Luckily he was found not guilty. (View the image below.)
George Washington is April's second cousin, eight generations removed.

E.E. Charlton-Trujillo: Author & Filmmaker
About 25 lucky Liberty students got to see author & filmmaker E.E. Charlton-Trujillo. She is the author of Feels Like Home, Fat Angie, Fat Angie: Rebel Girl Revolution, When We Was Fierce, and The Colorful Spirit. Her presentation was entertaining and educational. The kids loved it!!!

Series Reader D. Fernandez: Michael Vey by Richard Paul Evans
D. Fernandez enjoyed the Michael Vey series by Richard Paul Evans because it kept getting better as he continued reading the next book. He felt the author, Richard Paul Evans, character and setting development was well played.
If you enjoy riveting, addictive, funny, and intriguing reads, D. Fernandez highly recommends
this series.

PSJA Battle of the Books
Students interested in becoming a competitor of the Liberty M.S. Battling Team are required to read 5 books from the PSJA Middle School Battle of the Books List. Students must AR test and get an 80% or better. This 6-weeks, 5 students completed all 5 books. Come by the library for more details.

Law of April 6th, 1830
The law of April 6, 1830 banned immigration from the United States to Texas. In addition it outlawed slavery in Texas.
Students in Mr. Moncivais social studies classes were assigned to create a comic of the Law of April 6th, 1830.

(3) History. The student understands how individuals, events, and issues related to the Texas Revolution shaped the history of Texas. The student is expected to:
(A) describe the chain of events that led to the Texas Revolution, including the Fredonian Rebellion, the Mier y Terán Report, the Law of April 6, 1830, the Turtle Bayou Resolutions, and the arrest of Stephen F. Austin;
Series Reader K. Iturrubiates: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
K. Iturrubiates got hooked on The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare because she loves fantasy and it was totally action packed. The plot had several twists and turns in unexpected ways. The series gave K. Iturrubiates more imagination and passion for reading.
If you like fantasy books with adventure, excitement, and suspense, don't hesitate to read this series.
