Letter from Principal Rosenbach

Dear Centennial Families,

What a great week! On Wednesday we welcomed our 7th graders to CMS with our WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) day to help transition our students and start to build relationships and make connections. It was wonderful to see so many students in the halls and classes of CMS. And on Thursday we had out first day with all students as we welcomed back out 8th graders. The energy, noise, and sights of our students has brought life back into the building.

We have noticed that some students are being dropped off too early and wanted to remind everyone to please not drop students off before 7:05 a.m. and please do not use the bus loop. We need to keep our cars and bus areas separate.

District issued laptop computers were issued to 7th graders on Thursday and will be issued to 8th graders on Monday the 13th. Students are not required to check out a laptop but are expected to bring a laptop (either personal or school issued) to school fully charged every day. The district has a Technology Protection Plan as an opt in model. Please see below for more info.

Additionally, due to enrollment we did add some staffing this week and some students continue to have classes/ teachers changed as we balance out our class rosters. While we know it is not ideal in the short term, we do believe it is what is best for students for the year.

I hope that the feedback from your students has been positive as I believe the start of school has been fantastic. Thank you for allowing us to teach your students.

Afternoon Pick up:

If you are picking up your child instead of riding the bus you do not need to call the office unless you child is unaware they are being picked up.

Student Laptops

Each student will need to bring a laptop to school each day. Your child can check out one from the school or bring their own in.

7th grade check out was September 9 and 8th grade check out will be September 13. If they were not here then they can go to the library and check one out.

Just like textbooks, team uniforms and other school property issued to your child for school purposes, there is a responsibility to take care of school property. We know accidents and/or loss may happen, even when students intend to take good care of the device. In these instances, district policies and state regulations require a fine be levied to cover the repair or replacement cost of district property. Due to the high replacement cost of a laptop, the Snohomish School District is offering a Technology Protection Plan for the 2021-2022 school year.

The district’s 2021-2022 Technology Protection Plan is an opt-in plan, with payment due at time of opting in. Plan enrollment fees must be paid at the time of opting in to activate the protection plan. Payment should be made by Friday, October 1. Payment can be made through the district's Touchbase online payment system and instructions are provided in the forms below. For those who prefer to make the $30 opt-in payment in-person, please contact your school bookkeeper or main office.

Cost: The standard enrollment fee for the Technology Protection Plan is $30. Students eligible for the free/reduced lunch program will be automatically enrolled.

Coverage and benefit: This protection plan covers the laptop loaned to the student against ONE incident of accidental damage, theft, or loss during the current school year. This plan does not cover loss of the power cord, intentional misuse, abuse, or neglect by any household members. Physical screen damage, caused by abuse, is not covered by the plan. All damage assessments will be at the sole discretion of the Snohomish School District Technology Department.

You can purchase ASB cards ($15), PE Uniform short/shirt ($13), Yearbook ($25), Athletic fee for sports ($50) online. (Please note the sale dates for yearbook below).


Don't miss out on a yearbook! Cost is $25.00.

Sales will be:

  • Now until September 30 (closes at the end of the day on 30th)
  • November 1 - 24 (closes at the end of the day on the 24th)
  • After this yearbooks will be ordered from the vendor and only a limited number of extras will be available to purchase at the end of the year.

We would recommend if you want a yearbook to purchase one in September or November and not wait.

Bus transportation

Please use our eLink/Versatrans online tool to find your student’s eligibility for bus service, bus stops and route information. (Note: Transportation information in Skyward/Family Access is not accurate. Please use the eLink/Verstrans online tool.) 2021-2022 routes and schedules will be available in eLink/Verstrans after Monday, August 30. After that time, please call the Transportation Office at 360-563-3525 if you don’t see route/schedule information available for your student.

Masks/face coverings

It is clear in the updated guidance and from directives from Governor Inslee that masks/face coverings are required inside of all K-12 schools and on all buses, regardless of vaccination status. This is a state requirement. Masks/face coverings are not required when outdoors. Mask/face covering exceptions may be made for students with certain medical conditions or receiving special education services in some cases and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Nurse's Corner

As the school year begins, I would like to remind parents of some important issues that need to be addressed that will help us keep your children healthy and in school.

Health history, medication orders and care plans, if indicated, MUST be done every school year.

IMMUNIZATIONS: Each student should have completed the required immunizations to attend school. Please be sure your child is up to date on all immunizations. Your child’s healthcare provider can help you determine if he/she needs further immunizations. Students entering the 7th grade should have had their Tdap given between their 11th and 12th birthday. There are resources for free vaccines if needed, please contact the nurse for information.

If your student has a life-threatening condition, we must have the emergency medication (epi-pen, inhaler, midazolam, glucagon, etc.) in school prior to or on the first day of school along with an authorization form from the health care provider, even if student has permission to self-carry & self-administer.

Please do not send your student to school if they have any of the following symptoms that are not caused by another condition:

  • Fever (defined as subjective or 100.4 F or higher)
  • Cough
  • Chills
  • Loss of sense of taste and/or smell
  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea (defined as 2 or more loose stool in 24 hours).

If they are in school when they become ill, they will be isolated, and you will be called to pick the student up. Please have them picked up within 30 minutes to avoid exposing others.

School Lunches

There will be no charge for breakfast and lunch for the entire 2021-22 school year for any student. All students are free.

However, there will be ala carte items available at secondary schools to students. Students will have to pay through their accounts for those items. Ala carte may not be available at the beginning of the school year due to a labor shortage.
