MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
What a way to finish the term! But aren’t we blessed to have an amazing term full of laughter, learning, joy and fun. It has been an interesting end, however, I am very grateful to each and every day to be surrounded by incredible children, an amazing staff and fantastic, supportive families.
We've all heard the word "gratitude." It is used to express thankfulness and praise. It refers to the quality of being thankful and a readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. Throughout life's trials and blessings, displaying a general attitude of gratitude distinguishes a person’s life, but it also makes you a lovely person to be around! Practicing gratitude actually increases dopamine in your brain (the stuff that makes you feel good!) and encourages your brain to seek more of the same. So, scientifically speaking, the more you are grateful for, the more you will find things to be grateful for.
In this last week, we have given the children an opportunity to be grateful for things in their lives. They have been able to write these down during the day. Here are some examples of what has been in the box.
I am grateful for:
My family and friends, my home and my food, my school and the teachers.
The people that I never imagined to be friends but are now super close with me now.
My parents for looking after me and my family.
My friends and family that love me and to have a house to live in. Food to eat and water to drink.
My sister Everly.
My friends, family, teachers and people who care for me. I am grateful for living the best life possible. Thanks God.
For pandas, animals, school, lettuce, marshmallows and food.
Thank you to our Wellness Team, Mrs McIntyre & Mrs Peart, and to all the staff members who pitched in this week for the benefit of our students at St Luke's. They have all gone above and beyond to ensure our students had many opportunities to exercise wellness and gratitude. Thanks also to Mrs Leone Simmonds who created this beautiful worry tree in the library. The students have been adding their worries on the tree (leaves) throughout the week.
Staffing
We say goodbye to Miss Rasmussen as she ventures off to another school for Term 3. We are eternally grateful for her time with us. She has been showered with so many gifts and cards from students who have not only love having her teach them, but have certainly discovered a new love for sport. Her dedication and passion for sport has been shared with us all and for her, we are very grateful. We wish her all the very best for the future and we hope to see her again.
Mrs Kerry Peach, will be away for Long Service Leave, from Weeks 1 – 4. Her replacement will be Mrs Sebina Sheriff, who is a regular with us at St Luke’s. We welcome Mrs Sheriff in Year Three.
We welcome back Mr Andrew Kelly. Mr Kelly has most certainly had a very refreshing break and looks forward to returning to St Luke’s. We know that Mr Kelly returns to us with a refreshed and renewed spirit.
We also welcome back Mr Rob Noseda. Mr Noseda has had a well - deserved break and he looks forward to returning to us in Term Three.
Interschool Cross Country
For the Interschool Cross Country, the places of the students were recorded via a satellite tracking system. Attached is the website where you can view the place and time your child ran.

It was a fantastic day with each and every student giving their absolute best whether that was running, cheering or supporting their team mates. Well done, St Luke’s!
I would also like to say a massive thank you to all of the parents who brought their children to training in the freezing weather. It makes a huge different and a great benefit for the students to see the course before the day so I thank you for all of your efforts.
Once again, I am grateful for the extra time out of school, Emily has contributed to our children, to ensure their success in events such as the interschool. I am very proud of all our students on that day. Well done!
Thank You!
I wish to personally thank the St Luke’s community, who have been very supportive of my role during Term Two. It is always a fantastic opportunity to serve the children and community and I am a better person for it. Thank you.
School Holidays
Have a fantastic break, laugh lots, enjoy time with family and friends and stay safe always.
God Bless,

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE
During Semester 1 the students at St Luke's have been busy producing many masterpieces while experimenting with different mediums. They have been inspired by the artworks of famous artists including Claude Monet, Margaret Preston and James Rizzi. The students have also spent time exploring how to visually acknowledge the sacrament of Confirmation, Reconciliation Week and the United Nations Year of Fruit and Vegetables. We hope you enjoy viewing some of the art the children have created.

Sport
And just like that, Term Two has come to an end!
And what a fantastic end to the term is was with the Interschool Cross Country Carnival still going ahead amongst everything that was happening at the current time.
The competitors had been training hard, getting up early and braving the chilly weather in order to prepare for the day, and what a day it was! We were lucky to be graced with amazing weather for the carnival which was hosted by Padbury Catholic Primary School at Mawson Park on Friday the 25th of June.
Twenty-eight schools from the north of Perth were invited to compete in this event with roughly 70 students competing in each race. I want to congratulate each and every single student who attended the event. Making it into the interschool team is a massive achievement in itself so I want to say a huge well done to all of you. Everyone ran their heart out, never giving up and pushing themselves to the very end. I want to give a special mention to Nathan Wilkie (Year 4) and Samuel Gunner (Year 3) who both placed 4th in their races. A tremendous effort, well done to both of you!
It has been an absolute pleasure to teach at St Luke’s for Term Two. I want to say a huge thank you to all of the parents who offered their assistance for events. Without your help the training sessions and events wouldn’t take place so I thank you for your help.
Have a safe and fun filled holiday.
Kind regards,
Emily Rasmussen

Father & Son Camp
After long anticipation, the amazing Father/Son camp was held on the weekend. Dads and lads of all ages came together at the beautiful location of Nanga Bush Camp. Low temperatures did not deter these happy campers from enjoying the great outdoors and the brotherhood experienced. All up there were 34 families attending and we thank all of those who organised this wonderful event. Below are some photos from those who attended.
2 boys from St Luke’s have also sent in their own accounts from the time away with their dads.
“I enjoyed spending time with my Dad and hanging out with my friends at my last St Luke’s Father & Son Camp. It was really cool to have the fire inside, but it was very cold at night (even sleeping with my beanie on). In the morning we had kangaroos visiting us around the lodge which I liked.” Daniel
On Father and Son camp we drove a long way to get there we stopped at hungry Jacks to get some chips and nuggets. When we arrived we saw a mother and joey kangaroo We played football🏈 and played king of the pack and basketball🏀 We also went canoeing 🛶 , and saw Mark Mc Gowan. We stayed in a enormous house🏠! The weather was 0 degrees or minus 2 degrees it was very very cold. We had a campfire🔥and we toasted marshmallow it was lots of fun!We went four-wheel-driving and found interesting tracks to go on it was great!😎
