The River Hawk
Rio Norte News - June 2, 2023
A Note From the Principal
Good Morning River Hawk Families,
It is time to say goodbye to half of our River Hawks and their family. For some of you this is a final goodbye as your youngest, or only, heads into high school. For others of you, this is just a "so long" until your next child arrives at our doors and we welcome them into this crazy ride called Junior High! Either way, I hope your 8th grader looks back on this year fondly and takes many wonderful, positive memories with them. There are many incredible firsts ahead and I hope every single one of our 8th graders find their place and their path in high school, that will help them on the road toward their true passion in life! If they can find something they love doing every day, that provides for them and brings them joy, we know they will do well in life. In the meantime, they need to work hard, but still remember to get involved in their school community and activities and have fun, too, as it will make their high school experience that much better.
For our 7th grade families, you are about to be our 8th grade families and we hope that we assisted in the transition to junior high. It is such a big transition from elementary to junior high and we always see so much growth over the year and even more over the two years. If you haven't already, look at their picture on the first day of school and look at them now and you will be amazed how much they've already grown up. And it's not just physically, they change and grow so much in junior high as they learn to become more independent and to be their own self-advocates in their learning, prepping them for high school.
As I reflect on my first year as a Junior High Principal, I can admit I was not perfect in any way, and I have learned and grown a LOT, but I hope you and your student felt just how much I care about what I do each day. I am committed to our Rio community and each year I will work hard to do what I can to make it that much better. Rio is an incredible place and I am blessed to have the staff I do. I thank them for the heart they have for our kids and the hours they put into their jobs to ensure our students are supported and challenged! I also thank YOU our River Hawk parents for how much you value education, trust in us to do our best, and for the unwavering support you give to our school community. I thank all of you that gave your moral support, and/or financial support, and/or your time, and/or gave donations to dances and supplies throughout the year. Every bit of your support matters and is appreciated by all of us. We couldn't do this without YOU the parents and our PTSA E-Board!
I will miss our 8th graders, they will always be a special group to me in my first year, and I hope when they are ready to graduate high school, I will hear what incredible things they're headed off to do! Thank you to each of you for making this first year for me, something incredibly special!
