12/23-1/6 - WINTER BREAK
Be on the Lookout!
Parents – due to a district shortage of crossing guards, Cobb Middle School no longer as two designated guards in the morning. We are without a crossing guard to help students cross the Teel entrance to the carpool lane on the Northwest side of the school.
We can all get in a hurry to pull into the carpool drive or parking lot on the café side of the building, but please be aware of students utilizing the crosswalk. We want to ensure that all students get to school safely.
The district has shared that there are currently no crossing guard applicants. Substitutes are stationed at schools that have no coverage at all. If you are interested in the position, please visit http://www.friscoisd.org/employment/current-openings to apply.

Introducing..."No Zero Lunch"
Starting in January, Cobb Middle School will be implementing a program called No Zero Lunch.
The philosophy behind this program is: If we feel the assignment was important enough to assign, then we must hold students accountable for their learning by completing the assignment.
This program is designed to:
Increase expectations of students who fail to complete and turn in assignments on time.
Emphasize the belief that assignments/projects are important and must be completed.
Direct students to utilize their abilities to acquire self-discipline/work habits that will serve them in the educational setting and in the future when they enter college and/or the workplace.
No Zero Lunch is not a form of punishment,
rather a program to encourage student success through accountability.
How does the program work?
Students will be assigned by their classroom teacher on Friday afternoon for not completing work by the required due date. Students and parents will receive an email notifying them of NZL. The email will come from noreply@friscoisd.org (check your junk folder!).
Students will be required to attend NZL the following Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during their lunch period to complete the assignment.
Students are still able to buy lunch. They will bring their bought or brought lunch to the No Zero Lunch room.
Grading
Completed assignments will be collected and placed in the teachers’ mailbox for their review.
Late assignments that are still not completed at the end of No Zero Lunch will receive a zero.
By eliminating these zeros, we are confident we will increase the learning opportunities, hold the students accountable, and improve overall grades.
