The Cougar Connection
Weekly Update for Families - October 13, 2022
From Dr. Gruman
Dear Northwest Families,
Tomorrow marks the end of our first quarter and we have enjoyed so many wonderful moments and learning opportunities with our students so far this year! We look forward to many more exciting events and learning experiences in the upcoming quarter.
We hope you will be able to join us for Parent-Teacher conferences next week, on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 pm and during the school day on Friday. Conferences are by appointment. Parents or guardians schedule those meetings through Skyward. If you need assistance, please contact our main office and we can connect you with someone to answer your questions. Students have no school on Friday due to the conference schedule.
As we move into 2nd Quarter, please reference this reminder from our Food Services Department: Congress did not extend federal school meal waivers which means school meals are no longer available free to all students. Families must apply for meal benefits and be approved in order to receive meals for free or reduced. Families can apply online at https://www.schoolcafe.com/SHAWNEEMISSION. It is the expectation that students will have money on their food service account or cash in hand to purchase meals or ala carte items. Payments for school meals may be made 1) Online through eFunds (subject to transaction fee) – look under optional fees for lunch account, 2) by sending a check or cash payment to the school office – marked for meals, 3) by credit card at most school offices, 4) by calling the Food Service office between 7am and 4pm at 913-993-9710 to make a credit card payment over the phone. On December 1st, any account that is $-75.00 or more will receive one final notification before the balance is submitted to the district collections agency.
Have a wonderful weekend!
All the best,
Dr. Lisa Gruman
