Ney Elementary supports BISD's Read2020 Initiative. We are working to have all students in grades PreK-3rd reading on grade level by the year 2020. How are we going to accomplish this goal? By READING, of course! Each student is expected to read at least 20 minutes each day. Research shows that if we are CONSISTENT with this practice, our students will be reading on grade level by the third grade!

We have decided to make this even more fun! We are asking parents to take pictures of their child reading in unusual places. Please print these out and send to your child's teacher. We will display them at school. The crazier, the better! Make sure we can see the book that your child is reading in the picture. We also ask that you tag both Elisabet Ney Elementary and Ney Library on Facebook with your pictures. On Twitter you can tag #BISDread2020 Let's flood our community with pictures of our kids getting their 20 minutes a day in the most unlikely places. If you are traveling over Spring Break, take advantage of the photo opportunities along the way. We can't wait to see where our Ney Knights "get their 20."
