A Memo from Mrs. Doss
Happy Fall Y'all!! I think it is safe to say that the weather has officially taken a turn toward chilly, Autumn nights. With that crisp chill in the weather our students will be out and about enjoying the cool breezes at recess. Please remember to have your child bring a jacket, if needed, for outdoor recess times.
We started off our year with a bang, and have not stopped trucking along. Our students have recently brought home progress reports, and results from our Spring State MAP assessment. As a support in curricular areas of Math and Reading, Spartan Tutoring has begun. It will run until March of 2017. The first official night of tutoring was this evening.
We are pleased with the adjustments made to our morning time at GBE. Students are enjoying their weekly Wellness time in the morning that Coach Taylor has organized for each separate grade level. If you would like your child to participate on their grade level day, but did not get a copy of the permission form sent home, please contact your child's teacher for another copy.
Other things taking place this month are the Author Visit from Beth Vrabel, author of Pack of Dorks, on Wednesday, October 5th. This has several of our fans of this author excited to get the opportunity to meet her.
We love to see our students excited about reading! This is something Mrs. St. Clair is working on with a Book Club she is running with some of our readers. She has had positive feedback from the students in the book club, as they dive deeper into the text she is sharing with them.
The feedback that we have received from our Curriculum Night was positive. We plan to seek other opportunities for parents to come, and learn more about the curriculum this year. As we send out surveys this year regarding our programs and events, we encourage you to provide your input and note your attendance to the different events. We are looking at our numbers of parents in attendance when determining if the events are ones we plan to continue to promote school and community relations.
In this short snippet, I have only mentioned a few of the many things that are happening here at GBE. Always feel free to stop by and take a look at our Parent Resource Board area in the school square. We will always have various information in this location or on our Spartan table under the bulletin boards.
Thank you again for your dedication and support-
Angie Doss
