Principal Point

An Opportunity to Give

We are devastated by the destruction of the Camp Fire in Paradise, California, USA.

Our hearts go out to the Paradise Unified School District, its schools, students, and families.

Paradise Elementary School, a long-time participant of The Great Kindness Challenge, has completely burned to the ground. We are calling our kind community to come together and help. Here is how:

  1. We have invited our students, shared with our PTO and asked our students and our community to be part of the Kind Cards Response for the Paradise Elementary School community.

  2. We have Invited our students and their families to donate gift cards (Visa, Mastercard, Target, Walmart, or Home Depot gift cards are preferred). We are collecting the cards in the Shadow Hills Elementary School office.

  3. We will one "love/kindness card" from our school with wishes of love and support for the Paradise community.

  4. We will mail the gift cards and "love/kindness card" to Kids for Peace at the proper address.

  5. Deadline for gift cards is Friday, November 30, 2018

  6. Kids for Peace will collect the Kind Cards and will hand deliver to leaders in the Paradise Unified School District who will distribute to those in need.

We are so grateful for your kind and compassionate hearts!

Inspiring curiosity and building integrity to cultivate a positive learning community.

We believe the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Shadow Hills Elementary School is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community. We envision a school in which staff:

  • Inspire curiosity

  • Build integrity

  • Cultivate a positive learning community

  • Unite to achieve a common purpose and clear goals

  • Work in collaborative teams

  • Seek and implement best practices that result in student growth and achievement

  • Monitor student progress

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to the overall success and well-being of all students

(Vision based on P. 135 of the following book - Eaker, DuFour & DuFour. (2002). Getting Started: Reculturing Schools To Become Professional Learning Communities. Bloomington, Indiana: National Educational Service.)

We live the values of: Respect - Dignity - Honesty - Responsibility - Teamwork
