It is hard to believe the Fall 2023 semester will be coming to a close in just 3 short weeks. Please read below for semester exam and exemption information, as well as a few campus celebrations and upcoming events.

Semester Exam Exemption Process
For Fall 2023, all student requests for Semester Exam Exemptions will go through a tile on MyKaty Cloud. This exemption request process will open at 7:00 AM on Friday, December 1st and close at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 8th. MCTC Fall 2023 Semester Exam Schedules
Miller exam schedules can get a little tricky to navigate. To make it easier, we have created separate exam schedules for each of our cohorts of students. Please click on the correct schedule below based on the periods you attend classes at Miller.
If you attend Miller for 1st - 3rd periods ONLY, please click on the schedule below.
If you attend Miller for 1st - 4th periods ONLY, please click on the schedule below.
If you attend Miller for 5th - 7th periods ONLY, please click on the schedule below.

2023 - 2024 Semester Exam Exemptions
Semester exam exemptions will be offered during Fall & Spring Semesters for the 2023 – 2024 school year. Below are the required semester exemption requirements. In KISD, Semester Exam Exemptions are offered as attendance and behavior incentives for students. Exemptions are determined by course.
To qualify for an exam exemption in a course, a student must have met the following criteria per semester, per course:
- An average of 80 or higher for the semester.
- No more than FIVE (5) non-school related absences (see note below).
- No more than TEN (10) tardies;
- No N in conduct for the course and no U in conduct for any
- No ISS, OSS, OAC/DAEP Placement, or JJAEP Placement.
- No outstanding fees or fines.
- Must have been enrolled in the course by the 10th day of instruction; and
- Meet campus specific requirements related to exemption submission deadlines and verification procedures for securing their exemptions.
The number of available exemptions per grade level is as follows:
- 11th grade = 3 exemptions
- 12th grade = 7 exemptions
Please note: The following absence codes do NOT count toward the five (5) allowable excused & unexcused absences:
- P: Present but not in class
- S: School-sponsored curricular and extra-curricular activity that is not UIL related
- V: UIL and other competitive activity
Semester Exam Exemption Attendance Incentive
- Juniors - If a student has met all exemption criteria (grades and discipline) and has no more than 3 absences in any class this semester, the student qualifies to request an additional exemption (beyond the 3 allotted).
- Seniors - If a student has met the discipline criteria and has no more than 3 absences in any class, the grade criteria moves to a 70 or higher for the semester for the student to be able to exempt the additional requested semester exam.
- Scenario #1: I have been absent only 2 times to 1st - 5th period classes this semester, however I missed 6th and 7th period 5 times. Am I eligible for the attendance incentive? Answer: No.
- Scenario #2: I have been absent 3 times to each of my classes, 1st - 7th periods. Am I eligible for the attendance incentive? Answer: Yes
