EMS S2 Week 14 Announcements
The Know-whats and the Know-hows at Estacada Middle School
MAP Testing Continues: Provide Encouragement
Families: We are entering our last week of formal testing, measurement, and evaluation of our students' progress. I acknowledge this is a long process for you, our students, and our teachers. As we fatigue, please encourage our students to maintain a positive attitude and to build their academic stamina and endurance. For the rest of their lives, our students will need to learn how to approach rigorous, long-lasting tasks. Their approach and attitude will support higher outcomes. Although these assessments and measurements are hard, they, too, are valuable. We are asking our students to give their best effort so they know their current academic status. Building on their efforts of their learning also promotes ownership over their studies. Once our testing season is over, we will expect our teachers and our students to continue their work achieving expectations on our Essential Learning Standards. Go Tigers!
Progress Reports Sent on 5/4
The last progress report was sent on 5/4. If you did not get your student's progress report, please reach out to me. The next progress reports we are sending will be on 5/ 18 and on 6/1. You will receive your student's final grades and proficiency indicators on 6/15. Go Tigers!
Thank you to Estacada Fire and Rescue!
Nearly all 6th grade PE classes participated in an activity (within their Wilderness Survival Unit) with the Estacada Fire Department. A huge "Thank You" to our community firefighters for their support in keeping our students safe.
Magnesium and Flint
Students collected fuel from the Ranger Woods, then used magnesium and flint to start small fires. Student engagement was high. We are building individual, life-long skills at Estacada Middle School.
Wilderness Survival Unit
Students will also be learning how to read a map, use a compass, and navigate open land within this unit (all within the safety of our school's property). We are happy students will have this opportunity at Estacada Middle School.
Estacada Middle Schol
Our mission is to equip each student with the necessary skills to be competent, resourceful, and successful.
