Day 57
Good Morning,
I hope all of the mothers were celebrated greatly yesterday.
So, day 57. Not much more to say about that.
They are not the best pictures as we were driving but if you have not seen the building lately it is coming together.
Miss and love you all,
Sarah
Pandemic EBT
Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits will be available for eligible California families soon!
Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits help families in California buy food when schools are closed because of the coronavirus emergency.
Families will get up to $365 per eligible child on their P-EBT card to use on food and groceries.
Families with children who get CalFresh, Medi-Cal or Foster Care benefits do not need to apply. Most will get their P-EBT card in the mail during the month of May. P-EBT cards will begin arriving in May, 2020.
Families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals and who do not get their P-EBT card in the mail, must apply online before June 30, 2020. The online application will launch in late May.

What are Screen-Free Saturday?
In so many ways, we are more dependent on digital technologies than ever. Families across the globe have had to loosen their screen time rules just to get through the week. And many families find weekdays exhausting as they juggle work, remote learning, keeping in touch with loved ones, and following the latest developments. Screen-Free Saturdays are an opportunity to take a break from the seemingly endless noise of quarantine life and recharge for the coming week.
Screen-Free Saturdays are a tool for us to take the time we need to prioritize our families and our wellbeing. They offer a sanctuary: a space in stressful times for us to be present. Like their sister, Screen-Free Week, Screen-Free Saturdays are a chance for us to play, explore, and rediscover the joys of life beyond ad-supported screens. And they are great for our mental and physical health to boot!
San Diego Comic-Con@Home Announced, Touting No Lines, Badges For All, And Personalized Snacks
Nerds around the world felt like they’d just been given a wedgie when San Diego Comic-Con had to cancel its annual July event.
But wait…there’s more. The conference announced Friday that an at-home version of the event will be streamed this summer, date to be announced.
“Coming soon… Free parking, comfy chairs, personalized snacks, no lines, pets welcome, badges for all, and a front-row seat to… Comic-Con at Home,” the announcement video declared.
The convention was originally slated to begin July 23. Presumably the digital version will be held on or around that date.
The festival producers vowed a return to the live event next year on July 22-25, 2021 when the cancellation was originally announced. “Recognizing that countless attendees save and plan for its conventions each year, and how many exhibitors and stakeholders rely upon its events for a major portion of their livelihood, they had hoped to delay this decision in anticipation that COVID-19 concerns might lessen by summer. Continuous monitoring of health advisories and recent statements by the Governor of California have made it clear that it would not be safe to move forward with plans for this year.”
An outbreak in the White House
The coronavirus has reached the cramped offices of the White House, with two staff members having tested positive. Three top health officials began to quarantine themselves over the weekend, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, who said he had contact with an infected staff member.
Given the vast resources at the White House’s disposal, including access to rapid-testing kits, the news suggests that other workplaces may struggle to prevent transmission if the economy begins to reopen soon.
