Strep Throat Treatments


*Penicillin- It can be given by injection, especially if you have a young child who is having trouble swallowing or is vomiting.

*Amoxicillin- In the penicillin family, its more preferred for children because it tastes better. Also, available in tablets.

Usual symptoms of strep:

  • Throat pain
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Red and swollen tonsils, sometimes with white patches or streaks of pus
  • Tiny red spots on the soft or hard palate — the area at the back of the roof of the mouth
  • Swollen, tender lymph glands (nodes) in your neck
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Rash
  • Stomachache and sometimes vomiting, especially in younger children
  • Fatigue
