Fan Club, Celebrations and Birthdays!
Fan Club:
- From Cassie: I am grateful for the one and only, Mrs. Mary Moss! Mary is a dedicated MS leader. She has a positive spirit even when there is a problem to be solved. She never rushes to judgement and is patient in supporting. Thanks Mary for being a great teammate.
- From Rebecca: When you need a magician, call Kristin. Kristin was able to work some serious problem-solving, networking, and creative magic to figure out a way to implement AVID and IB in a middle school schedule, no easy feat to say the least.
- From Samantha: Kudos to Matt, Tony and Gabby. We received word that the CDC will be featuring Pasco County Schools in their feedback report as a model district for our quick work in ensuring we are providing proper education in sexual health to our students. We couldn't be more thankful and proud of your advocacy for this work and keeping our students informed and safe.
Birthdays:
- 28th - Jennifer Niles
- 2nd - Ayesha Clisset
Fan Club Challenge:
We challenge each of you to find something fabulous in the work of a peer this week and when you do, send a quick note to Sam and Lea so we can share the awesomeness.

Honors and Double Course Code Updates
Distance Learning High School Honors Courses
During distance learning honors courses are being covered in various ways. Courses created by teachers or as stand-alone honors courses have honors level work embedded in the course. For those honors courses that are in a MOOC with non-honors course codes, projects or assignments have been developed or identified in myLearning that can be used if a parent and/or student requests additional work or enrichment. These assignments should not be graded and should not be required. To see which courses this applies to click here. The bottom of the spreadsheet will also show you where the enrichment projects and assignments are available. This information will be shared with teachers later this week.
Double Course Codes
In the area of Fine Arts and Journalism there are students who are enrolled in multiple course codes that are being covered under one distance learning course. Since these students will be earning multiple grades/credits a plan has been developed to cover these areas.
- Fine Arts – a project has been developed that students are required to complete in order to earn the credit/grade for both courses and is available here. To determine which assignment is appropriate for the course codes the student is enrolled in, review the fine arts tab here.
- Journalism – a project has been developed that students are required to complete in order to earn the credit/grade for both courses and is available here.
The completion of the projects for these students is required. Teachers will need to use myStudent to indicate the project has been completed. This will be done by creating an assignment without a points value and using the checklist feature in myStudent. Please view these screenshots to assist.
Additionally, P.E. Students in one distance learning course but enrolled in multiple P.E. courses should be advised to increase their physical activity logged in in myLearning based on the number of courses enrolled. P.E. teachers have been given many enrichment activities as well as supplemental resources from Matt Wicks that can be used with these students.
