Adjectives are verbs that compare nouns using er or est. Sometimes you have to double the consonant because there is only one consonant before the vowel, and other times, if the word has a y at the end you have to drop the y and add iest.
Example:
Big- Bigger- Biggest. Small- Smaller- Smallest. Happy- Happier- Happiest.
